The Canadian Embassy in Haiti has had to close its doors and its employees are now working at home for their safety. This comes as gangs laid siege to Haiti’s capital and now control an estimated 80 per cent of Port-au-Prince. Escalating violence fuelled by political unrest has led to an extended state of emergency. Canadian Ambassador to Haiti André François Giroux discusses the situation on the ground.
